Coyotes, Bobcat, snow and more...this started out as a vacation with some photography thrown in, but turned out to have a lot of pleasant surprises...

This is the harder to find bridge where the locomotive chase took place. It is on the McCloud River Railroad. In 20 years the wood parts are worse for wear, but the scene still looks remarkably similar to when the film was shot. The bridge is just as scary to walk over with the gaps between the ties seeing through to water hundreds of feet below. The railway filed to abandon the line east of McCloud in 2007, so the bridge may not be long lived, unless it is turned into a footbridge by rails to trails.

I spearheaded the effort to rescue the last neon motel sign in Mojave, which will be restored and displayed at the Mojave Transportation Museum.

We were doing some hangar-side testing of Rocket equipment on this interesting stormy day in Mojave. Makes it look like the liquid oxygen vent is making the clouds! The rainbow lasted for about 5 minutes in varying intensities.

This is a rare phenomena that I had personally never seen before until now. Two views are given, one with a long exposure and one simulating a naked eye view. (there's no color because the light is too low to activate the cones in your eye). To see a moonbow, the moon has to be full or near full, below 42 degrees off the horizon and raining in the opposite direction. You'll never see one in an urban area as they are too dim.

These are neutered strays we have adopted. There are 6 of them, but only 4 are present here. before we befriended the mother, she taught them to be afraid of people, and it's a hard habit to break when taught so young.
